A new love interest for Max Turner has been confirmed by Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod.

The teen was first groomed and brainwashed by Griff Reynolds and his radical crew last year.

After pleading guilty to assisting terrorism, Max will start serving a six-month sentence this week, and a group of youngsters is planning to make his time inside a nightmare.

Although Max has had a difficult year and deserves his retribution, MacLeod discussed his plot with the panel on Loose Women recently and assured them that things would finally turn around for him.

He said, “He’s going to have a happy ending in the end. “It’s crucial that we presented a case in which someone who has descended so deeply down the wrong direction yet has a chance to turn around.

“The story’s central problem was meant to be how a family would approach a youngster who had deviated so far from the path. How do you win them back to your side? How can you save them?

“So there’s a happy ending, right. There is a love tale involved. It’s hilarious when he meets this utterly unexpected love interest.

The head of Corrie continued: “Over the course of the following 12 months, we transition from the extremely serious story we’ve portrayed and it almost becomes a rom-com, with the risk of seeming like a tonal collision.

“It’s surprising how people have responded there because we wanted him to have a happy ending. Despite the terrible things he has done, I do have some sympathy for him.

“I believe he was misled after being groomed. I believe that many teens in the UK are experiencing that right now, therefore it would be unfortunate if we depicted them in a negative light.”
