Coronation Street Actor Simon Gregson suffered even more coronavirus heartbreak after his wife Emma’s grandma sadly lost her life to COVID-19, only days after Simon himself admitted that he had contracted the virus.
Emma tweeted, “881 people have lost their lives today. My grandma was one of those precious souls!”Heartbroken Fly High Grandma We love you. #stayathome.
“Simon, who plays Steve MacDonald in the hit ITV soap, opened up to fans suffering from the disease. On social media, the 45-year-old explained how he had been stuck in bed for days.
The actor said, “The first day out of bed today, it’s going to feel a bit better after getting the virus.” My biggest symptom was gastric, so it’s still bloody bad, just lucky not to have the respiratory tract.
“Stay healthy everybody.” the post was soon flooded with messages of support from the fans concerned.”Simon’s so sad to hear that you’ve got the virus! Take care of yourself and get better soon! We all love you and Steve!” one fan wrote.
The second one added: “Dear gosh, Bless you, so happy you look a bit better. Get fine soon, God bless.” “Get fine soon, Simon,” the third continued. Earlier this year, ITV bosses took a tough decision to talk to Coronation Street products to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Just a few days ago, producers confirmed that they had been forced to furlough a lot of staff due to the virus. The ITV spokesperson spoke to Digital Spy, “Since the soaps have been shut down, staff members have been told that their duties are being furloughed in line with the government’s policy for those who can not work through the coronavirus epidemic.”The move is understood to affect 250 crew members. Furloughed staff are expected to receive their full ITV salary.
