Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) has been convinced that Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) is not someone to be trusted on Coronation Street, and during the hour-long installment tonight, she makes a surprising discovery that confirms she was right to have her doubts when she discovers that the sinister man had once locked Yasmeen (Shelley King) in a box. The poor comments that Speed Daal — and, even more accurately, Alya herself— received became a constant worry for Alya, and she then set out to get to the bottom of what was going on.
She did just that during the last two-part episode, when Carla (Alison King) pointed out the spelling mistake on Geoff's latest menus, and then the penny fell when she noticed that this same spelling mistake was present in one of the negative reviews. As a result, she turned around to confront Geoff on the matter, who— as he usually does — wisely lied to him on his way out of the situation, and Yasmeen believed him. Throughout tonight's hour-long date, Geoff tries to manipulate the situation to his benefit when he seeks to make Yasmeen think that Alya is out to get him until he admits that he's going to see a business adviser so that they can see where they are on the matter.
Meanwhile, Alya makes the first of two discoveries, when she discovers that several cash withdrawals have been made from the Speed Daal accounts.
Later, Geoff lies with Yasmeen about consulting a business advisor, before he admits that he believes they should give up and move aboard— informing her that she wants a better life. Nevertheless, Yasmeen has concerns about quitting Weatherfield, and Geoff finds an excuse to twist her thoughts, suggesting that she has doubts about their marriage— something that makes her very angry.
Alya shows her concern for Yasmeen to Ryan (Ryan Preston) and Eileen (Sue Cleaver) than chips in — revealing that Geoff once trapped Yasmeen in a magic box before leaving her there when he left the house. Alya is shocked at Eileen's revelation and spends no time asking her grandma about it. Alya had her doubts about Geoff for a long time, but this incident shows she was right in distrusting him. With some degree of evidence to back up her claims, is this going to be the breakthrough she wants to reveal to him and save Yasmeen from danger?
