Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) has suffered a great deal at the hands of her vile husband Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) over the last few months.
Yasmeen and Geoff have been at the centre of a domestic abuse storyline which has seen Geoff exercise coercive control over his wife.
We’ve seen him lock her in a box, take control of her finances, threaten her granddaughter Alya (Sair Khan) and even see an escort behind Yasmeen’s back.
In upcoming scenes, Yasmeen will, at last, confront Geoff over his lies, but could that end up putting her in danger?
Is Yasmeen leaving Coronation Street? After Alya’s urging, Yasmeen will take a peek at Geoff’s emails and find that not only was he lying about the hotel booking, but she’ll also find proof he had to contact with the escort agency.
Yasmeen will confront Geoff and he’ll end up admitting to his lie about the hotel.
As a result, Yasmeen will declare that she’s going to Zeedan’s wedding without him, but Geoff will stand in her way and tell her in no uncertain terms that she’s going nowhere.
This kind of imposing behaviour could very well indicate that Yasmeen is in physical danger from her monstrous husband as well as psychological.
Even so, she will manage to leave their house eventually, but she’ll get in touch with the police and find out details about Geoff’s criminal past.
Would Geoff ever stoop so low as to hurt or even kill his wife for standing up to him? Based on what we’ve seen so far, there appear to be no depths to which he won’t stop.
