Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) is about to get the surprise of her life as she prepares to leave Coronation Street–when Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) is proposing to marry her with the wedding ring of his dead wife, Sinead. It's a good idea to prove that he's moved away from his wife's recent death and truly loves Bethany, but does he mean it, or is he deluding himself?

Beth Tinker (Lisa George) accused both sides of effectively whitening Sinead's life, and Bethany and Daniel's relationship did not go well, and Sarah (Tina O'Brien) warned her daughter that she would break her heart because she was not over Sinead and needed to work through her grief.
Daniel left bin bags of Sinead's belongings at Beth's door in a further bid to make a point about his feelings and assure everyone (including himself) how ' fine ' he is, leaving her gobsmacked.
But when there still seems to be some question as to how real his relationship with Bethany is, along with his plans to move to London with Bertie, Daniel agrees on a surprising action after talking to Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).

He calls up to the salon flat as he heads out into the street, and when Bethany and Sarah come to the window, he gets down on one knee and presents the ring of Sinead before proposing marriage, leaving Bethany shell surprised.

It's a rash mistake that forces Bethany to make a massive decision–can she hide the irony of what she realizes deep down; that she's an emotional rebound for a grieving widow?
