Coronation Street’s Sunita Alahan was killed on the ITV soap in 2013 when her daughter Asha is about to take center stage Former Coronation Street actress Shobna Gulati has responded to a new storyline on the ITV soap, seven years after the death of her character Sunita Alahan.

The new plot centers on her on-screen daughter Asha, 14, with a show to tackle child pornography and consent. Asha robbed her love of Corey’s curiosity in a video camera and was unaware that he had recorded it on his cell without her permission.

The video has since been sent around the school, while somebody uploaded the video to a porn site also. In the middle of Asha’s turmoil of constant trolling and name-calling, her father, Dev, would discover and accuse her.

It’s also revealed that the soap would revisit Sunita’s death, with Dev telling his daughter that she’d be embarrassed by her late mother. With Sunita about to be listed for the first time in a while, actress Shobna had her say about her on-screen daughter and her husband. After seeing reports of upcoming scenes, she couldn’t help but refer to past storylines of her former character.

Taking to Twitter, she said, “I still know that Dev can’t cope with the children when I get a warning on Google about Sunita. “Seven years have gone, and he wants to bring me up again? # Corrie. Isn’t it Sunita’s fault?” He uses her this time around to hurt Asha as he struggles to understand what she is going through.

Speaking to Digital Spy, Asha actress Tanisha Gorey said: “Dev is off really, really angry. He’s bringing up Asha’s mother Sunita and saying she’d be embarrassed. I think that’s very important because we’ve never seen them speak to her before.

“It makes her feel even worse for Dev to now bring up Asha’s mum as an insult. She wonders why he should do that to her.” But Dev is doing his best. He has good intentions, but he is doing it the wrong way.
