Next week, Hope Stape and Beth Sutherland’s slap plotline will be covered again on Coronation Street.

Fans have been waiting to learn if Beth would be found guilty of slapping Hope in secret at the beginning of this month.

After Hope’s falsehoods almost resulted in the pet dog being put to death, the unexpected rivals have been fighting over Beth’s pet dog Peanut.

Fiz and Tyrone didn’t believe Hope when she subsequently informed her parents that Beth had assaulted her during a street argument.

Hope tells her closest friend Sam Blakeman about the distressing circumstance the next week.

Hope explains that the Underworld machinist advised her not to bother grassing her up because no one would believe her when she recalled the incident where Beth smacked her.

This information shocks Sam, who vows to see justice done as a result.

The young child approaches Tyrone and argues that Hope has been speaking the truth and should be given due consideration.

Will Tyrone and Fiz realize they made a serious error of judgment?

Iain MacLeod, the producer of Coronation Street, announced last week that Hope’s storylines will change this year.

She’s definitely not going to go down such a problematic route, in the short, medium, or long term, MacLeod said on ITV1’s Loose Women.

Actually, we’ve done some very dark and twisted things with that character, and while it’ll remain be a part of her, for the next 12 months we’re going to do regular pre-teen stuff, we reasoned.

“We’re going to be forming a friendship with her and Sam, and as they try to navigate those waters, it might even border on a really innocent pre-teen romance.

“Well, okay, there will always be a Hope-centric twist because she may be little wired differently than other children her age. She might not receive assistance, but we’ll get to see a more sensible, grounded side of her.
