Coronation Street has revealed that this week, Yasmeen Metcalfe will be diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection. Yasmeen gets the news from Dr. Gaddas at the medical center just days before her fateful showdown with Geoff’s husband (Ian Bartholomew) at home.

Feeling ill, Yasmeen is taking advice from the doctor and is quickly shocked to hear that she has tested positive for chlamydia. It is clear that Geoff passed over the infection, having previously deceived Yasmeen by secretly using an escort service.

In next week’s episodes, we will see Geoff become even nastier by laying the STI’s blame on Yasmeen’s door and questioning her loyalty. Geoff’s new mind games push Yasmeen to breakpoint, particularly when he attempts to deprive her of food as a twisted ‘punishment.’

Coronation Street has also confirmed that this is leading to a big turning point in Yasmeen’s story when she lashes out at Geoff in self-defense next week. When Yasmeen responds at home with Geoff in a moment of terror, she takes a bottle of wine and attacks him, slashing his throat with broken glass.

Geoff falls to the floor, and Yasmeen calls 911, telling the dispatcher she feels she’s killed her husband. Shelley King, who plays Yasmeen, recently explained: “He has a bottle of wine on the table and snacks, he doesn’t offer something to her.

What she needs is to eat something and hug him. She needs him to forgive her. She doesn’t think coherently, and she hasn’t eaten well for two and a half days.” She really needs all of this to stop. She protects herself – she doesn’t assault him – but he’s the one who ends up bleeding on the kitchen floor.
