EMMERDALE fans were left confused on Thursday, as a lady for weeks turned up unexpectedly unseen.

Throughout yesterday's episode, Emmerdale fans were pleasantly surprised, after a character that had been absent for several weeks showed his face. The village vet Paddy Kirk's (Dominic Brunt) brother, Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards), returned to our screens after a considerable amount of time away from the Dales and left us asking where he was.

His last scenes are assumed to have been broadcast back in November last year after vanishing for no apparent reason, leaving a huge void full of questions about his absence.

One person wrote: "Where is Bear?" Another worried: "Was bear secretly killed and hidden in the cellar?" A third commented: "What happened to Bear? Did I miss anything?"Emmerdale spoilers: Bear Wolf went back to the ITV show following weeks of absence (Image: ITV)

Confused, the hero swung back in as nothing at all occurred.

Some expressed their joy that there was nothing wrong with him, exclaiming: "Bear's alive!" A second said: "Poor Bear, it's been a while yet." Another posed the important question: "Where was Bear?”

Completely confused about his death and what it entails, could ITV managers have just made this a big gaffe?

Or is there a more subtle sense behind his absence?

He appeared alongside Paddy in last night's episode, debating how they would release Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), who is currently serving time for the January assassination of Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough).

With many fronting his release drive, should Bear hang around to give Paddy the support he needs to save his best friend?

Poor Marlon has had it tough the past few weeks-it can't be much pleasure to be imprisoned and falsely accused of murder at all.

Viewers know it wasn't Marlon and probably Pierce Harris (Jonathan Wrather) is liable for the businessman's murder.

But the perpetrator, who was detained in Mulberry Cottage for taking Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry), Kim Tate (Claire King), Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) and her son Johnny hostage while the Thomas was in Australia, could just get away with his heinous crime as it appears that he had ties with the female detective involved.
