EastEnders and Coronation Street have crossed soap worlds to raise money for a great cause. As announced earlier, Walford residents in a video chat organized by Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) for a Queen Vic virtual pub quiz – with Woodyatt’s actual home in the famous Beale home. viewers were offered an opportunity to catch up with the different Walford residents. Sonia was bravely still working on the frontlines at the hospital, while Karen got her wires crossed at the talking point as she logged in!

But there was a hitch, as a stranger popped in the conversation too – it was Corrie’s one-time Rovers Return bar, Liz McDonald (Beverley Callard), appearing slightly confused about how she was going to get there. “I think I may be in the wrong video chat,” she admitted. “Is that a virtual quiz night for the Rovers Return?”

As Liz asked if anyone here could get a drink for under ten quid at the Vic, a furious Linda gave her the iconic EastEnders punishment: “Get out of my virtual pub! You’re barred!” “With pleasure, and don’t come to Rovers! You ‘re barred,” Liz shot back as she quit the conversation.

Soap fans would certainly be excited with the crossover sketch since both EastEnders and Coronation Street had to close down production along with Hollyoaks and Emmerdale in the wake of the pandemic. In a little good news earlier this week, Corrie star Melanie Hill revealed that ITV soap bosses are actively working hard on ways they can resume filming as soon as it’s safe.

“I know they’re trying to keep groups of people filming when we go back as tiny as we can,” she explained on the WTAF – The Country Podcast. “But we have a great team of writers, and I’m sure they’re going to come up with some brilliant ideas.”
