Chantelle Atkins is about to find herself on the receiving end of another round of physical and aggressive violence from her out-of-control husband Gray in EastEnders when her frustrations explode, leaving her terrified for her life and the children. While the EastEnders character seems externally charming and friendly, the psychotic lawyer actually holds a vicious rage that bursts continuously behind closed doors, leaving Chantelle physically and emotionally hurt.
The pressure of Whitney Dean's (Shona McGarty) case is growing on Gray, and he's found himself sacked by the firm, but embarrassed at the possibility of Chantelle's family finding out that he's sworn to protect her.
Elsewhere, Chantelle tells Gray that she will be ready to bring in the money for now, but she got the bad news from Denise Fox that she is no longer needed at the salon full time. She accepts a job from Kheerat Panesar, but how is this going to go down with Gray?
Meanwhile, after learning from Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) that Gray came out of a hotel room, Gray decided to take on Whitney's case himself to try and get his job back at the law firm, but Mitch Baker became suspicious of him. Despite objections from Chantelle and also Karen, Mitch is eager to find out the truth, but after a few digs, he discovers that Gray has lost his job. Mitch approaches Gray and gives him money, leaving him furious and thinking that Chantelle has been bad-mouthing him with to family.
He comes home in a temper and loses it with Chantelle when Karen and Mitch are preparing a surprise and asking him to come to the Vic. As Chantelle recovers from her monstrous husband's other vicious attack, Gray gets a warm reception at the Vic and Mitch's apology, which makes him realize Chantelle hadn't told anyone. But can he cover up what happened? And will Chantelle trust anybody?
