After the boat crash, Linda made a vow to Mick (Danny Dyer) that she will give up drinking once and for all, and she has managed to keep the commitment so far, with one minor blip. She and Mick have agreed to sell The Queen Vic in an attempt to eliminate pressure, in order to make it simpler.
Linda’s certainly resolved not to let her be dominated by the drink, and that resolve was never more evident than it was last week when she prepared to talk to her new alcoholic party.
The appearance of Phil at the group meeting, though, made her somewhat distressed, as she felt unable to speak when he was there. With Phil announcing to Mick that he thinks Linda is not yet ready, the landlady of Queen Vic was fuming understandably, and therefore wasted no time questioning the hard-man of Mitchell over his remarks. Phil wasn’t crazy though, but instead he wanted to take the time to tell Linda of the challenges she’ll face as she deals with depression — and as a result it seems as though the two of them strike up more of a friendship. Linda seduces sobriety with Phil in tonight’s show after she finds an unopened bottle of whisky in the cupboard.
After, he shares the true reason he needs to buy The Vic — confirming it’s for Sharon (Letitia Dean)—but Linda has reservations about the entire thing, because she’s unsure if he has what it takes to win back her best friend. Was Linda going to find out Phil?
