Emmerdale fans point out two major problems with Sam Dingle stealing scenes amid money woes

Fans of Emmerdale believe they have discovered two issues with Sam Dingle robbing Eric Pollard while the latter attempted to support the mother of his newborn granddaughter. Viewers saw Sam asking Cain Dingle if he could increase Dan Spencer’s salary at the garage during Thursday night’s (February 23) trip to the Dales.

Dan Spencer, the baby’s father, had urged the family to contribute more to the baby’s maintenance after the baby’s arrival back in October, and the new granddad had hoped to assist Amelia Spencer, the mother of his grandchild, after that. Cain outlined why he was unable to extend Dan any further funding.

Sam was concerned, and Cain reassured him, “You’re a Dingle, you’ll find a way,” in reference to coming up with the additional money to pay for baby Esther. Sam, whose father Eric was managing David Metcalfe’s store at the moment, decided to steal from it. Sam began to stuff his suitcase after attempting to move him out of the way but was interrupted.

Then, as Pollard pursued him, he attempted to flee. As they sprinted to the front of the store, he was able to grab Sam, but this caused him to fall to the ground and suffer a brain injury. Amelia saw the event happen as Samson, Sam’s son, and Noah Dingle entered the store and discovered Pollard collapsed to the ground.

Sam protested his innocence, claiming he hadn’t intended to fall, but when David arrived, the police were summoned, and later, after PC Swirling had gotten statements from both Eric and Amelia, it seemed that Eric had decided to file a report.

However, Emmerdale viewers were quick to point out that David had called the cops before even calling for assistance for his father. “David calling the cops instead of an ambulance while his dad is laid on the floor with a bang to the head,” read a tweet from @IAmSamJMartin. “David’s a tad stupid; rather than calling the police right away, he should call for an ambulance for his dad! #Emmerdale,” wrote @SARamsay1. @TopGearBabe, a different watcher, did make the following observation: “They’d already said the ambulance was on its way…”

In the meantime, viewers of the Yorkshire-based drama were perplexed as to why the Dingles never appeared to have any money and why characters like Sam and Dan frequently visited the cafe and the pub when they were short on money.

Sam is out of order stealing from a neighbor and a friend, but if he cut out his butties from the cafe, he could buy a box of diapers, according to a tweet from @cassam101. Tweeted @CarolineNaen: “Absolutely! If they were that poor, there is no way they would be dining at the cafe. #emmerdale.”

“#emmerdale so Dan is broke, can’t pay the bills but was in the hide drinking coffee, now the pub on the beer!” wrote @chockies20 on Twitter. Perhaps they could afford items in #emmerdale if they didn’t spend their entire time in the bar, cafe, or hide, said @aaron dingles.
