Initially, Cain (Jeff Hordley) took responsibility for the murder and was put in prison, but Moira (Natalie J. Robb) and Amy soon learned that it was actually young Kyle who had fired the shot. They were willing to go to any lengths to protect Kyle, but Matty frequently disagreed with them because he was concerned about the impact keeping the secret was having on the boy’s mental health. Amy broke up with Matty for a while, which saddened him, but eventually they got back together.
Ash Palmisciano has actually stated in the past that he believes Amy and Matty are “soulmates.”
She is such a great support for him, and they make such a cute pair. In July of last year, he said, “I do believe they are soulmates, and they have each other’s best interests at heart, but you never know.” Thus, Matty is thrilled in upcoming episodes when Amy suddenly pops the question to him. Although the news is exciting and we do enjoy a good Emmerdale wedding, it might be a little early to start looking for bridal attire.
As Matty tells his mother Moira the good news, she observes that he doesn’t seem as delighted about the engagement as he should be, and eventually he explains why.
He claims that he has reason to believe that Amy only put forth the marriage proposal in order to improve her chances of obtaining full custody of Kyle.
And this is terrible news for Moira, who cares for Kyle like a mother herself.
