Actress Lisa Riley from Emmerdale has talked openly about her relationship with her longtime companion Al in real life.

Riley, who is best known for her role as Mandy Dingle on the ITV series, also talked about how she had trouble dating in the past and how she ran into some trust problems while looking for love.

In 2014, Riley and artist Al connected at a Strictly Come Dancing tour stop. She expressed her admiration for the fact that he was unaware of her identity to Kate Thornton on the podcast White Wine Question Time.

When asked about how the two of them were connected, the actress responded, “If you tell hair and make-up anything, they put paprika on the tale and times it by 65.”

Riley proposed to Al in 2018, saying that his easygoing demeanor is exactly what she needs and helps to center her. Riley continued, “I’m, you know, a Catherine wheel, and that’s what works and that’s what I needed.”

Riley shared details of her previous relationships with men before meeting Al in an open discussion on the show, saying, “I didn’t want to let my guard down.”

She continued, “I used to test guys, I used to have questions like, why were they even talking to me?

“They really just want to receive a free suit and stroll the red carpet for an Inside Soap Awards. But it’s true, I mean.”

Additionally, Riley admitted that she occasionally wondered if there would ever “be an individual out there for me.”

The actress previously discussed the pair’s recent choice to forego marriage, stating: “Nothing should alter, according to us. We frequently discuss it and agree that we don’t require engagement bands as long as we are content.

“Our mothers both passed away. And you act in favor of others when it comes to events like nuptials. I mean, what would be different if I never changed my name?

Additionally, I’ve always stated that I’m not the type of lady who desires a big, frilly day with a horse and carriage.
