Emmerdale actress Michelle Hardwick said she would be “more than happy to stay” on the ITV soap, as the future of her character on the show remains uncertain. The star, who plays Vanessa Woodfield on the show, is currently tackling her most hard storyline as a fictional vet continues to fight stage-three intestinal cancers, as well as relationship troubles with the fiancée Charity Dingle.
“We’re all jobbing stars, and you never know what’s going to happen, the twists and turns,” she told the Mirror recently, understanding that Vanessa’s recent hard times left fans worried about her continuing involvement. “Storylines will alter, and you never know.
I’m thankful that I’m still here right now. I don’t think any of us are in it forever – you never know what’s around the corner.” Talking about the responsibility in making her on-screen experience as authentic as possible, Michelle continued to say: “It’s been massively challenging.
You know that you have to get this right. Telling that is such a remarkable story “I’ve received many texts from people that they’re so glad because Emmerdale shows this cancer, not only talking about it but because it’s in a younger person rather than an older person.” It’s the younger people that stick in your mind when you’re reading messages. Earlier this week, Michelle announced that she and her wife, Kate Brooks, who is a producer on Emmerdale, are expecting a child. She took to Twitter to share the good news, where she posed on her stomach for a picture while Kate grinned away in the background. “Fred’s big brother’s duties start in October,” she said, referring to the couple’s dog.
