After a six-week hiatus, actor Nicholas Cartwright has revealed details of the horrific events that will herald the Australian soaps’ return to UK screens on Monday 3 January on C5 (and Friday 31 December on 5Star).

Tane Parata (Ethan Browne) collapsed in the gym during the pre-Christmas break episode in November, leaving viewers on a HUGE cliffhanger, with cop Cash Newman and half of the Summer Bay enjoying a gala upstairs in Salt.

The customers had no idea that the eatery was filled with a lethal toxic gas!

Nicholas, whose first scenes on the soap had Cash investigating the death of Susie McAllister, told whattowatch.com that this is the most important narrative he’s worked on since moving to Year Bay last summer.

“It’s enormous!” “Cash came in on a murder, but for a cop, a murder is rather routine,” he explained.

“Everyone involved in the fundraiser will have their lives changed forever.”

Martha Stewart (Belinda Giblin) has organized a charity auction including her artworks to raise money for mental health awareness. In Summer Bay, the black-tie gala is a huge thing, and Australian TV celebrity Sam Mac has consented to attend as a VIP guest.

“Everything is going great, and everyone has dressed appropriately.” “Then Martha passes out, and Cash rushes over to check what’s wrong,” Nicholas explained.

“From the vent above Martha, Cash detects an organophosphate.” It’s a common hazardous chemical that Cash recalls from his days working on a farm.

“He doesn’t grasp what’s going on right away, but he takes command and moves everyone at the gathering into the corner.”

“It’s difficult since he doesn’t have all the facts and isn’t sure if he’s doing the right thing.” He’s acting on a hunch and making a major decision.”

Cash realizes that, despite the danger to their life, he can’t let anyone leave the room right away because of the toxic gas.

“This organophosphate has the ability to pass from person to person.” He understands that if he opens the doors and everyone leaves, the risks to the larger community will be considerably greater.

“He manages to get everyone out, but they have to go through quarantine.” There’s a chance that six or seven people will perish!

“Every single individual who has come into contact with the chemical, especially Tane, who is below and has borne the brunt of the onslaught, is in grave danger of dying.” He’s in grave danger.”

In actuality, Tane Parata (Ethan Browne) is the target of the unknown assailant…

His drink had been drugged, and when he passed out, a shadowy person surrounded him with a chemical sprayer, leaving a rose on his chest. The chemicals then seep into the ventilation system, causing damage to the room above where the incident is taking place.

After receiving mysterious roses and frightening anonymous love notes, Tane suspected Cash’s sister Felicity Newman (Jacqui Purvis) of stalking him.
Cash served Tane with an AVO after Felicity vehemently refuted Tane’s assertions (restraining order).

Is it possible that Felicity is to blame?

“Before the night is done, Cash has a few hints regarding the perpetrator. He has a strong suspicion of one person, but I can’t reveal who it is because it’s a secret!” Nicholas made a joke.

“It opens up Pandora’s box of events for Cash, and it becomes this whole other issue for him where he has to think about loyalty, trust, and family,”.

Cash’s love life is one area of his life where there has been no controversy since things between him and Jasmine Delaney (Sam Frost) have been going wonderfully well!

“Right now, Cash and Jas appear impenetrable!” They got off to such a terrific start in their relationship. It’s such a rarity in soaps to see a love story like this because it’s so genuine.

“They’re ecstatic about each other, and Sam [Frost] and I are riding the wave.” However, we all know from our history that something will inevitably challenge us!”

Prior to his arrival as Cash, Nicholas, who had a military career before turning to theatre, was almost partnered with Sam Frost’s Jasmine. He auditioned for the role of Dr. Lewis Hayes, Jasmine’s murdering ex-boyfriend.
“I was sad at the time that I didn’t get the part [it went to Luke Arnold], but it’s one of those things,” Nicholas explained.

“In the end, everything worked out extremely nicely for me since I truly like Cash’s character. He isn’t precisely like me, yet we share a similar outlook on life. From that perspective, I can see where he’s coming from.

“Before I got into this sector, I was a soldier, so I know what it’s like to work in the military, what it’s like to work with a weapon and the responsibility that comes with it.”

“I’m not claiming to know what it’s like to be a cop – I have the biggest respect for them – but I believe I have a unique perspective that others may not.”
So far, Cash has been the consummate hero and gentleman, but is there a darker side to him? After all, Summer Bay cops have a history of being killed or imprisoned!

“There is obviously dark stuff, as there always is in soap operas!” We really get to see Cash after this major event – he’s not relaxed, but he’s got a little less to do, and you can see the cracks in him a little bit. There’s definitely more to discover!”

Home and Away premieres on C5 at 2:00 p.m. on Monday 3 January, returning to its regular time of 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday 4 January, and as a ‘first look’ on 5Star at 6:00 p.m. on Friday 31 December.
