Fans of Home and Away are in a tizzy as the show approaches its highly anticipated season finale week.

The long-running Australian serial is ready to end 2021 with a bang, promising everything from a passionate proposal to a hot road trip and a life-changing surprise.

Home & Away’s ‘deadly stunt’

Audiences are on the edge of their seats as cheeky duo Ryder (Lukas Radovich) and Theo (Matt Evans) perform a fatal act.

In the trailer, Ryder is buried in a coffin, and the two take their viral video side hustle to a terrifying new level. That’s right, you read that correctly.

Theo’s initial enthusiasm for the ‘epic’ stunt is dashed — literally — as he’s left slumped next to his mate’s ‘grave,’ video camera in hand.

When Theo inexplicably goes quiet above ground, Ryder panics with only his phone lamp as a light source.

“Where are you?” he shouts from six feet under. “If this is a joke, it’s not funny. Answer me!”

Will Ryder — and Theo, for that matter — make it through the difficulty of being buried alive? On social media, followers of Home and Away have been offering their own theories.

The cause of Theo’s unconsciousness is still unknown, with some claiming it was a self-inflicted accident.

“The promo shows that it’s one of Ryder and Theo’s prank videos. Ryder gets buried alive and then for some reason Theo ends up on the ground, so it’ll be interesting to see what happened to Theo!” wrote one fan.

“Looks like Theo may have fallen out of a tree, possibly putting up a camera to film the gravesite. So he’s unconscious,” added another.

One fan theorizes that Ryder wasn’t buried of his own volition, but rather by Chloe’s (Sam Barrett) huffy father Matthew (James Sweeny).

“Matthew puts Ryder in the grave, Chloe finds out what Matthew is really like and she kills him in self-defense,” the fan speculated.

Another argues that it’s a case of mistaken identity, that it’s not Ryder in the coffin at all.

“It’s not Ryder, a while ago it looked like they were filming a funeral and Ryder was there,” they wrote.

Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams) proposes to Mia (Anna Samson) in the action-packed trailer, while Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) and Tane (Ethan Browne) embark on a steamy road trip.

And Roo (Georgie Parker) offers Martha (Belinda Giblin) the gift of life, but will she be able to keep her word?
