Ken Barlow, a long-running character, will say goodbye to this week's popular cobbles.

On This Morning, soap expert Sharon Marshall appeared to shed light on the exit from Coronation Street to the character, in a storyline that has been developing since last month's landmark 10,000 episodes.

The iconic house of Ken, 1 Coronation Street, was on the market with his adopted daughter Tracy and son Peter both selling on the small terraced home.

Ken wandered around the living room in an emotional preview of this Friday's episode before saying: "Goodbye, 1 Coronation Street." Ken is set to move with his wife Claudia to the Still Waters retirement complex.

This morning presenter Holly Willoughby said she "didn't like it" and said without Ken living under a bridge, the show won't be the same.

Sharon said the retirement village, offering a cocktail bar, a book club, and fencing lessons, "wasn't really Ken. '

Since the soap started in December 1960 Actor William Roache has played the much-loved character.

The 87-year-old from his retirement village will still appear at the show.
