Neighbours, one of Australia’s most recognisable soap operas, has only been gently laid to rest for a month, yet it has already begun to rise from the dead.

The beloved Ramsay Street cast will rejoin in Melbourne the following year for a live farewell performance at Hamer Hall in April. It is anticipated that some of the soap opera’s most adored characters will rejoin to discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly from three and a half decades of filming, even if the full cast has not yet been revealed.

The live event, which will include Q&A sessions and meet-and-greet chances, will provide fans the chance to find appropriate closure following the show’s end after 37 years on broadcast. Until the next reunion tour is revealed, that is. then a restart… possibly even a musical performance after that.

Maybe Nicky Whelan’s character Pepper Steiger will engage in the soap’s first openly gay kiss, or Stefan Dennis, who portrayed Paul Robinson, the longest-running character, will talk about what it was like to play Erinsborough’s favourite playboy villain. Fans will definitely expect to hear Scott and Charlene (played by none other than Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue) describe what was possibly the largest wedding celebration to ever take place on Australian soil.

The future? If things keep going this way, Bouncer the dog might even show up to reveal whether he actually did end up with Rosie the border collie, his puppy crush.
