Next year, Phoebe Roberts will portray a brand-new character named Freya on Neighbours.
Yesterday (October 30), an official announcement was made on the Australian soap’s Twitter account, which read: “Here’s something exciting for you [star emoji]: Phoebe Roberts, one of our regular cast members, is joining us! #Neighbours fans, keep a watch out for Freya early next year.”
Nothing is known about this newcomer to Ramsay Street, and the fact that the character’s surname is unknown has sparked a slew of hypotheses.
One responder on social media suggested Freya could be Nicolette Stone’s ex-partner, as “she loves a leather jacket too”.
“I’m guessing relation to Sheila……. Or… Amy…” and “Ex of Nicolette’s?” read two more tweets.
Some readers may remember Roberts from Channel 5’s Lie With Me, where she portrayed Becky Hart opposite EastEnders’ Anna Fallmont, played by Charlie Brooks.
In other news, April Rose Pengilly, who plays Chloe Brennan on Neighbours, denied allegations that the show was on the verge of being canceled back in July.
“It’s all baloney,” she said. “The same articles say that we’re not working right now and won’t be until August. If you watch my [Instagram] Stories, you’ll know that that’s absolutely not the case.”
The article in question was published in an Australian magazine, and it said that the future of this television institution was uncertain and that it might even be over. Channel 5 was not pleased, according to the source, and several cast and crew members were becoming “anxious.”
