Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) will return to Neighbours, according to Alan Fletcher.

On Monday’s (February 28) program of This Morning, the actor, who has portrayed Dr Karl Kennedy on the Australian series for 28 years, discussed the show’s final few episodes and some surprise returns.

After Channel 5 announced that it would no longer air the soap, it would air its farewell episode this summer.

Despite this, the popular series continues to draw a combined viewership of about 1.4 million viewers in the United Kingdom during its two daily broadcasts at 1.45 pm and 6 pm.

In an interview with the hosts, Fletcher discussed whether faithful viewers would see some of their old favorites return to Ramsay Street for the show’s final episode.

“I am aware that the brilliant Harold Bishop has been announced to return to Ramsay Street towards the end of the episode,” he remarked. Karl’s shady past will undoubtedly resurface, and there are a slew of other suspects in the mix.

“I can guarantee you that the producers are trying really hard to attempt to get some of the Neighbours’ most beloved characters to at least make cameo appearances.”

Fletcher, on the other hand, remained tight-lipped on whether or not Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan, who both got their start on the show, would be appearing.

“I can’t give away any spoilers on that yet but that’s going to be the joy of those last episodes. Just sitting there and going ‘oh look who’s here!’” he said.

When asked about his own future plans, Fletcher stated that he hoped that his newly acquired free time would allow him to finally tour his show ‘The Doctor Will See You Now’ later this year, which was originally scheduled to debut in 2020, as well as work on his music (which he now prefers) and attend a few festivals.
