Everyone who visits Summer Bay appears to be hiding something. As a result, it was double the difficulty when two siblings came early this year—but also a lot of pleasure.
Working on Home and Away with fellow newcomers Nic Cartwright and Jacqui Purvis was like receiving all their Christmases at once!

The actress who portrays the wild teenager Felicity, Jacqui, gushes to TV WEEK, “It has been non-stop and very tough, in the greatest way. “Every day I spent [on set] has been wonderful. I particularly enjoy my character’s lack of restraint and her tendency to speak her mind without reservation.”

Playing the role of the local cop Cash has been a thrill for Nic – even if he has to double check his character is still alive in the script each week.

“I’ve heard about the police’s curse!” Nic, 33, remarks while laughing. “I constantly read the scripts carefully to see what’s coming ahead. What could possible go wrong? makes me not too concerned. But getting to know Cash has been amazing, and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead.”

The two quickly became comfortable at Summer Bay, with one another, and with the other cast members.

“Sam [Frost, who portrays Cash’s girlfriend Jasmine] and Jacqui are fantastic to work with. On the show, we all collaborate quite closely, and we all enjoy a good chuckle over a cup of coffee.”

Jacqui has got a new housemate in addition to making fast friends with Nic and Ethan Browne, who play her character’s love interest Tane, on set.

“I’m having a blast living with Matt Evans, who plays Theo. One of my all-time favorite individuals is him “she claims.

As the year draws to a close, Jacqui and Nic are eager to share their achievements with the people they care about. Jacqui will take a flight back to Victoria, while Nic, who spent six years as an Australian Army rifleman before switching to acting, will take advantage of any opportunities to enjoy fine food and company.

I’ll be attending a sizable family reunion at my relatives’ farm, says Jacqui. “We’ll eat a lot, drink a lot, and talk a lot. It will be enchanted. After that, I’ll just spend a lot of time at the beach snorkeling, water skiing, and surfing before taking a well-earned break.”

Nic, however, will not be taking part in all of the Christmas customs.

“I’m a grinch with Christmas carols. I’d rather put on music by Crowded House!” he says.

So once the tree comes down and the Summer Bay drama swells up, what’s ahead for the dynamic duo? Only time will tell – but Jacqui and Nic promise it’s going to be exciting to watch.

“2022 is a massive year for cash. He’s set up in the bay now, he’s got family and a girlfriend and everything looks great. But anyone who knows the show knows you don’t stay that good for long…” Nic hints, with Jacqui adding that a new chapter is on the horizon.

“Times are changing… it’s exciting,” she says. “But as for buried family secrets, who knows. It could all change!”
