Today it was reported that James Burrows is quitting his job as Ali Neason.

Coronation Street star James Burrows, who portrays doctor Ali Neeson, has been confirmed today to quit the drama and has already shot his final scenes.

The surprise announcement would come as a shock to some viewers who, despite the fact that Maria is dating Weatherfield baddie Gary Windass, expected Ali to get back together with his former flame Maria Connor after they reignited their relationship recently.

Although the news has been reported that Ali will quit the cobbles, little is understood of his departure plot, but, The Sun Online has announced that star James has already

shot his last scenes on the show and will leave next month on the tv.

A source allegedly said to the website: "Ali was one of the cobbles ' most popular characters, but it was time he left.

"He's at odds to murderer Gary Windass about girlfriend Maria Connor and ultimately both are involved in a brutal fight on the pavement." The public will be worried that Gary will claim his third goal, but it is not the last Weatherfield residents who see Ali.
