Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin says that if it can not be restarted by the end of June the new football season may be lost.
Many of Europe’s leagues are suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, with the Euro 2020 tournament this summer delayed for another year. Ceferin says that behind closed doors, seasons may be over. “If we fail to reset, the season is likely to be lost,” the Slovenian said
The three options are to restart in mid-May, in June or in late June. “There’s always the option to resume again at the resume of the next [season], beginning the next one later. We’ll see the best approach for leagues and Ceferin says gambling behind closed doors will have to be a choice across Europe.
“It’s hard for me to picture all the matches behind closed doors, but we still don’t know whether we’re going to restart with spectators or without them,” he said. “If there was no alternative, championship finishing would be easier.”
