But will it be smooth sailing for these two?

This week, Summer Bay is buzzing with activity as Ziggy and Dean prepare to give birth to their first child.

The impending arrival is delayed in Home And Away because Dean’s (Patrick O’Connor) mother Karen (Georgia Adamson) interrupts their nesting period.

For Ziggy (Sophie Dillman), who is already having trouble adjusting to the realities of becoming a new mother, her presence raises an immediate red signal.

According to Sophie, 30, “Dean and Ziggy are beginning to realize that they aren’t prepared enough.”

”The birth is creeping up on them and they have no idea – then Karen shows up!”

Ziggy, who is making an effort to maintain composure, looks to Dean for guidance. Despite the fact that her help is not actually needed, Karen yet wants to be a kind grandmother. But Ziggy gives birth before Dean can fix the problem!
According to Sophie, “It [the labor] comes as such a shock.”

In fact, when Ziggy interrupts them with the news, Karen and Dean are still having a disagreement!

Ziggy tries to maintain composure as Karen enters the delivery room at the hospital clutching an esky.

She settles in and opens a beer before assuming a seat.

Ziggy, meanwhile, is doubled over in pain. Dean is caught between the two women: he wants to be a good partner and father but would hate to ruin his mother’s joy at seeing her grandchild born.

”Ziggy is not happy at all,” Sophie says with a laugh.

”Dean is trying to keep Karen at bay and keep Ziggy calm while copping all her abuse – poor Dean!”

The soon-to-be father desperately phones John (Shane Withington) for help. Karen, who is in pain, reveals why she is there: Dean was born to her alone, with no help. She is determined to always be there for her grandson and won’t let her son to go through the same thing.

Ziggy is terrified when she returns to the delivery room, but Dean is there to help her through the latter stages of labor.

Despite ”a lot of screaming”, all goes well and the couple finally meet their healthy baby.

They’re parents – yay!
