Coronation Street viewers expect some dramatic courtroom scenes on the horizon after cast member Sue Cleaver shared a shot of herself and friend Melanie Hill relaxing together in what looks like a public gallery–increasing speculation that evil Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) may be about to be arrested for his horrific harassment of Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) and face-trial. Will he be jailed as Yasmeen gets justice?
Geoff has been deploying coercive control behaviors for over a year to shatter Yasmeen’s confidence and gaslight lately, as she has been a shell of her former self, his violence has stepped up, taking hold of her finances, pressuring her to feel that she is an addict and even kill and eat her pet chicken Charlotte for dinner.
Things are only going to get worse for Yasmeen, and her granddaughter Alya (Sair Khan), saw her attitude and Geoff’s fear. She encouraged Yasmeen to abandon him, but she realizes she must be careful not to put Yasmeen at risk.
Fans see no end in sight for her ordeal with Yasmeen already defending her monstrous husband, but filming taking place in a courtroom suggests the story will make a massive turn in the following weeks. Both Cathy and Eileen are Yasmeen’s friends, and both have observed Geoff’s odd habits, such as snappiness and Yasmeen wanting permission to go on a road trip. Therefore, a trial related to this plot would make sense for them to attend atr. At the moment, though, this remains complete speculation–while many fans are wondering (and hoping) about Geoff’s end, some have figured it could just as quickly be a church where a wedding is being filmed.
