The legend of EastEnders, Sid Owen, suffered a horrific accident that fractured his face and shattered half of his teeth during a golfing incident in Thailand. The actor, best known as Ricky Butcher on a long-running soap, is undergoing constructive emergency surgery in Thailand after being hit in the face with a high-speed golf ball in close range during a detox retreat.
The star sent straight to the hospital, has now revealed a grim set of photos and revealed that a horror accident could have killed him. I was almost lucky because they told me that if it hit me two inches higher up, I'd probably be dead from that kind of impact'.
Despite the accident that occurred five weeks ago, the star was still stuck in Thailand as it was considered unfit to fly–and had to undergo facial surgery, dental surgery, and bone graft. I remember seeing two teeth flying straight out of my mouth, but it turned out to be a fracture in my face and a broken jaw, along with another tooth embedded in my jawbone,' he revealed.
The incident has left him unable to eat, resulting in the loss of almost two stones. It's been just five weeks of hell, of total hell. I came here to relax for a detox, as I have been doing soberly for January every year for 20 years, and when it happened, I was almost ready to come home,' he said. Not only has the accident caused him physical pain and strain, Sid has added that he is also finding it mentally tricky as he is currently standing alone out there and unable to get to family and loved ones.
