Chris Hemsworth is most known these days for his roles in the Thor and Avengers films, as well as Netflix’s massive original feature Extraction, but he started his career on Australian television.

We all know he starred in Home and Away and Neighbours, but the actor came to Instagram this week to recall his first on-screen appearance as King Arthur in the Australian/Canadian children’s fantasy series Guinevere Jones. The series followed the titular character as she battled evil while also dealing with… high school?

“Throwback Thursday to my first ever gig,” he wrote. “When I first put this beautiful wig on I knew one of two things would happen, I’d be forced to grow my hair out and dye it red due to massive public fanfare or I’d never work again.

“Neither was true. Life’s funny that way.”

In the early-to-mid noughties, the show ran on Australia’s Network Ten, Canada’s YTV, and the UK version of Nickelodeon, and the intro sequence is one of the most early-to-mid noughties things we’ve seen in a long time.

Chris‘ appearance in the series was somewhat brief, appearing in two of the 26 episodes.

Next year, Chris will reprise his role as the God of Thunder in Thor: Love of Thunder, which will also see Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster reprise her role as the formidable hammer wielder.

Hemsworth previously joked that he feared he’d been written out of the MCU because he didn’t appear in Captain America: Civil War, which was basically Avengers 2.5.
