Spoilers for General Hospital indicate that John J. York recently provided an update on his battle with cancer. There is “a long road ahead” for him, he acknowledged. The 65-year-old originally disclosed his two blood and bone marrow disorders in September. To provide his admirers with an update, he posted on social media.
Hello to all of you. I’m checking in, it’s me,” York said. “I understand your thoughts. You may be asking yourself, “Why did Mac shave his beard?” I left my beard in tact. The small hairs that were still there were really shaved by me. Everything is moving forward smoothly.
The GH star shared that he’s in the “middle stages” of his cancer journey. He also stated that he has “a long road ahead.” Regardless, York is remaining in good spirits during this time. He also revealed whether he will return to the show.
“The test results are looking good… I’m feeling good,” York continued. “Hopefully, hopefully, if things go the way they are, maybe [I’ll] be back on the show late spring, early summer.”
In his message, York thanked the General Hospital fans for their love, prayers, and support during this time. He concluded his message with a holiday greeting. York also rubbed his bald head as he joked that it would bring some good luck.
General Hospital Spoilers: Will Mac Scorpio Get Recast?
According to General Hospital teasers, his role might be recast. Days following his holiday message, this theory was discussed. On the message boards of SoapCentral.com, user Mark1965 wrote: “Is there any news on the temporary casting of John J. York? It appears from his social media posts that he won’t be returning until the early summer.
GH supporters reacted to the forum. “From what I understand, the show won’t recast the role of Mac until John is ready to return,” a commenter commented. Felicia mentioned in passing during the holidays that Mac was investigating something in South America.
Other fans don’t want another recast. They’re already fed up with the recent recasts that took over the daytime soap. Fans are ready to welcome back York when he’s healthy and ready.
