Sophie Dillman has been transparent about how painful and uncomfortable having endometriosis is.

However, the 29-year-old performer claimed that via her portrayal of Ziggy Astoni in Home and Away, she was able to find the underlying benefits.

She claimed in an interview with the Herald Sun on Saturday that Ziggy’s self-assurance had helped her cope with the symptoms and see herself as a role model for other women.

The former nurse admitted, when talking about her anxiety about being on television because of the severe bloating her disease created, “It was an extremely hard transition.”

“And I would keep trying to tell myself that Ziggy wouldn’t give a damn about how she looked.” Ziggy has complete self-love, which was quite consoling to me.

Second, I believe that if I had seen someone on television with the same symptoms when I was younger and first experiencing them, I might have felt less alone.

Dillman continued by expressing her hope that her presence on television “may make one person feel less alone.”

The admission comes in response to rumors that Dillman and her on-again, off-again co-star Patrick O’Connor are quitting the program.

The couple were absent from a fresh group shot Lynne McGranger teased for the upcoming season.

McGranger, who plays Irene on the Channel Seven show, told fans on her Instagram that the loved-up pair filmed their last scenes in August.

The actress was responding to comments after eagle-eyed followers noticed Dillman and O’Connor were ‘missing’ from the cast photo.

Sharing the picture to her stories, McGranger could be seen posing with the show’s regulars and newcomer Kyle Shilling, who will be playing Mali Hudson.
