Daisy watched on sadly.
In tonight’s episode of Coronation Street (20 December 2023), Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott) departed the show and joined girlfriend Crystal Hyde (Erin Austen) in Glasgow.
Prior to Ryan’s departure, Simon (Alex Bain), the son of Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), begged Ryan to have a conversation with his father before the latter revealed his affair with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).
Simon reluctantly shook Ryan’s hand and said a chilly “bye”.
Ryan expressed his gratitude to Peter for not using their relationship as a reason for his separation, considering Daisy was engaged to Peter’s brother Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard). Given his own background, Peter pointed out that he wasn’t one to toss stones!
After warning Peter not to let Ryan leave without saying his goodbyes, Ryan’s aunt Carla Barlow (Alison King) and Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) were there to bid him farewell.
Before he left, Ryan asked them to send his former roommate, Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), a farewell message. Carla slyly asked if he wanted her to speak with anyone else on his behalf, but he politely declined. “See ya!” was all he said to Carla and Debbie before leaving.
Ryan said he would meet Crystal at the airport as Peter was driving him out of the Street. He met Daisy’s gaze as she passed, and they grinned together. Daisy appeared upset as Ryan was ejected from her life, but will this be permanent?
There are so many unresolved issues in their story because Ryan and Daisy have both admitted their love for one another. But is Daisy’s sporadic romance with Ryan really over now that she has reason to consider Daniel once more?
Regarding Ryan as a character in his own right, he has just recently begun the process of healing following burns he received in an acid attack earlier this year. We sincerely hope that actor Prescott, who has delivered some strong performances, will soon return to the cobbles.
After all, it seems unlikely that Ryan and Crystal will have a happily ever after given how quickly their romance developed
